Waste or Reuse?‘Wear the same clothes with trees.’Design Concept:
The works interrogate the fast update speed phenomenon by juxtaposing environment affect against the consumerism issue behind the fast fashion. Addresses contemporaneous issues of human consumption and sustainability by resuscitating discarded fabrics through communicate art and visual art. This work is site-specific be put in the withered environment, which echoes the tense relationship between the fashion industry and the environment.
Brief:
Discussing the deforestation phenomenon caused by the fashion industry through reusing the fabric waste and creating a way to build a bond and interact with the public and trees.
Location choose
Different location means the workshop will face different states of people.I choose three kind of park and one is ,which is small and private. Only the residents will pass by for a stroll and relax. They are always alone or mom and child.
- Hyde Park
In the downtown, Mostly young people and commuter
- Hampstead Health park
Away from the city centre，Mostly old people or famliy and group
- Avondale park
Near the resident area，Mostly mom and kids.
Workshop process
- Collect a fabric strip to read the text (about the specific data about the pollution statistic)
- Make weaving around the tree
- Talk about the fashion pollution topic and the workshop feedback

Posters echo 3 themes of environmental pollution affected by the fast-fashion industry
- Water pollution by microfibre， chemical dyes， cotton cultivation, etc.
- Deforestation to get raw materials has caused forest destruction.
- A large number of discarded clothes resulting in the occupation of land resources.
